Center Earns Four Star Rating
Written by Dennis Hobb Monday, 23 January 2012 11:38
Each year the Department of Mental Health conducts an extensive review of each of the District's nearly forty provider agencies. Staff members from the Office of Accountability review twenty client records in order to determine how well clients are served. For instance, they are looking to see that there are ongoing assessments so that services are appropriate for clients. They also review to ensure that clients are being monitored for health concerns, espeically by having lab work done regarding many of the medications they are prescibed. In all, there are about fifteen indicators that are evaluated. In addition, the results of the Center's external claims audits are compiled so that the higher the "pass" rate the greater the influence on the overall provider score.
The raw scores assigned earn anywhere from no stars up to five stars. The Department of Mental Health has only awarded three agencies with four stars, and the McClendon Center is one of these three (no agency has yet earned a five star rating). This is the third year that DMH has issued a provider scorecard, but this is the first time that the results will be published on the DMH website.
